Orlando City Soccer Club announced the signing of Honduras U-20 national team defender Devron Garcia on Wednesday.
Garcia was acquired through the discovery signing mechanism from Club Deportivo Victoria of the Honduran first division. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are thrilled to bring Devron on board,” Lions head coach Adrian Heath said in a statement. “He’s a young, talented and versatile player with a lot of potential to grow into a strong asset for the team.”
The 19-year-old plays defender and midfielder for the Honduran U-20 national team. He began his professional career with CD Victoria in 2013, playing in 39 matches and recording three goals.
In 2013, Garcia appeared in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates. Two years later, he was a captain in the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
