As the new season approaches, Orlando City Soccer Club is working toward involving the fan community more. On Wednesday, the club took another step in that direction.
Orlando City announced via press release that it has established a partnership with 7-Eleven, the world’s largest operator, franchiser and licenser of convenience stores.
“We are excited to partner with 7-Eleven this season to introduce unique features and promotions, which continue to enhance Orlando City’s community involvement,” Orlando City vice president of corporate partnerships Rob Parker said. “With 7-Eleven, we are creating even more communities for our club supporters to connect with the Lions and show pride for the team.”
Through the partnership, the convenience store is getting fans closer to the players. With the partnership, there will be a new music feature called “Plugged In.” The feature provides fans with a game-day playlist designed by the Lions players themselves, which will be posted to OrlandoCitySC.com and on various social media platforms. In addition to “Plugged In,” Magnet Mondays will offer fans appearances from players and Orlando City’s Kickin’ Cruiser.
As for the kids, participating 7-Eleven stores will support Orlando City’s youth soccer program during the fall and spring soccer seasons, as kids 12 and under will receive a free purple Fanta Slurpee and an Orlando City SC poster when they wear their youth-soccer jersey.
“We are ready to get our purple on to support the Lions and soccer in Orlando, 7-Eleven vice president Michael Lover said. “Whether it’s showing our spirit in the fan zone, plugging in player’s favorite tunes or sharing a free purple Fanta Slurpee treat with thirsty kids, 7-Eleven wants to get in the game in a big way.”
Orlando City opens its second season in Major League Soccer on Sunday, March 6, when the team takes on Real Salt Lake in the Orlando Citrus Bowl at 2 p.m.
