Chris Mueller scored the fastest MLS goal in Orlando City history and notched an assist.
Dom Dwyer recorded his 100th career goal to continue his goal-scoring form.
And the Lions extended their winning streak to four games after defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 3-2 on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 25,527 at Orlando City Stadium.
“Really pleased with obviously with four wins in a row, really pleased with three wins in a row at home, and I think we’re moving into a very positive direction… that’s the good news. The bad news is we still have a way to go, but again, if you look at it one more way, it’s good that we know that, that we know we could do better,” Orlando coach Jason Kreis said after the game.
Mueller, who scored his third goal in three games, opened the scoring 63 seconds into the game after a switch that saw Yoshimar Yotun sent a long ball toward the right-flank, finding the rookie who then beat Shea Salinas to strike the ball past Andrew Tarbell.
The Lions (4-2-1, 13 points) doubled the lead in the 35th minute when Dwyer dished the ball to Yotun who then sent a long pass to an unmarked Mueller, easily finding Sacha Kljestan to slide the ball into an open net for the 2-0 lead before halftime.
Dwyer made it 3-0 in the 69th minute after a through-ball from Justin Meram connected with forward who then rounder Tarbell to notch his 100th professional goal.
The Earthquakes (1-3-2, 5 points) pulled one back in the 78th minute when a header from Chris Wondolowski off a corner hit off Joe Bendik, finding Florian Jungwirth who was able to slot the rebound into the net. Jungwirth recorded a second goal in the 90th minute, again off another set piece, heading a corner from Magnus Eriksson to cut Orlando lead to one goal.
The Lions dominated the possession game with 51 percent, but were equal with the Earthquakes on the total shot counts with 11.
