Hey there Orlando soccer fans.

Welcome to the first edition of the OSJ Weekend Roundup where we’ll recap the weekend of soccer in Central Florida.

In this edition, we saw the Lions and Pride continue their downfall while in college soccer, the Knights got back to winning ways with a rundown on Rollins soccer as well.

With that said, let’s dive into this past weekend of soccer:

Lions fall at Sporting

Dom Dwyer and Oriol Rosell made their return for the first time to take on their former club, but that wasn’t enough as the Orlando City fell 1-0 to Sporting Kansas City on Saturday at Children’s Mercy Park.

Felipe Gutierrez had the lone goal for Sporting in the 53rd minute as the Lions extended their winless run to eight games and club-record 17th loss of the season.

Orlando has one win in their last 18 games.

Up next, the Lions continue their road stretch with a game against the Chicago Fire on Sunday at Toyota Park at 5 p.m.

Pride close disappointment season

The 2018 Orlando Pride season has come to an end — a disappointing end.

After getting eliminated from playoff contention last month, the Pride suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sky Blue on Saturday.

For the New Jersey side, it was their first win of the season. Carli Lloyd scored the only goal of the match in the 74th minute.

Knights back on track

The UCF men’s soccer team finished their home-stand with a win.

An early second-half goal from Cal Jennings speared the Knights to a 1-0 victory over West Virginia on Friday night at the UCF Soccer Complex.

Jennings, who leads the team in scoring with four goals, struck moments into the second half in the 48th minute to clinch Scott Calabrese’s side the win.

Up next, the Knights travel to take on the FIU Panthers on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
